Home win and a clean sheet...

THE WHITE Tigers saw that winning feeling return as we ran out 2-0 victors over Oxford City at a wet Treyew Road.
We started on the front-foot and an early corner caused all sorts of problems for the visitors as their goalkeeper somehow managed to keep the ball out of the net.
We were looking the most likely side early on as Jamie Richards headed a corner just wide before we grabbed the lead with a sweet strike from Ben Rowthorn.
Shortly afterwards Aaron Bentley almost got his name on the scoresheet on his return to the club when his deft header from a corner was hacked off the line.
Then Dan Rooney combined well with Louis Rooney, who was back in the starting line-up, only for the former to fire into the side-netting.
When our visitors did get forward, they found our back-line in stubborn mood as we kept them at bay.
The second half started with Niall Thompson crossing invitingly for Louis Rooney who saw his effort saved, but it was our visitors who started to grab hold of proceedings and forced Harvey Rivers into a couple of saves.
Our nerves were settled with just under 20 minutes to go when Dan Rooney let fly from distance and the ball sailed into the net to double our advantage.
We were able to frustrate our opponents as they searched for a way back into the game with some resolute defending to secure a clean sheet and three precious points.
