MANAGER, Leigh Robinson, has given his verdict on our 2-0 home reverse at the hands of Hampton & Richmond Borough.
“We did a lot of good stuff, particularly in the opening half-an-hour or so,” he said. “We created chances, but unfortunately we couldn’t capitalise upon them and they take the lead with their first real attack ten minutes before the break.
“In football goals change games and it was always going to be tough chasing the game against a good side.
“We then fell further behind before half-time and it gave us a big job to do in the second half.
“The lads were unlucky; our opponents were better than us in both boxes and that proved crucial in the end.
“We’re still working on getting our fitness levels to where they need to be. This won’t happen overnight but I am confident that in the weeks ahead we’ll get there.
“It’s now a case of going away and working hard in preparation for next weekend’s FA Cup tie at Hereford.
“I’ve seen enough positives in these opening two games to know that we’re moving in the right direction and our next game will be a good test for us in front of a big crowd.
“As such we’ll need big characters to help us make progress in the competition.”
