Interim boss on our draw with Welling United and busy Bank Holiday weekend schedule...

THE WHITE Tigers showed a never-say-die spirit on Saturday to claim a share of the spoils with Welling United courtesy of a stoppage time equaliser.
“It’s not been the easiest of times over the past few weeks, but the lads have maintained their focus on the pitch and managed to grab a hard-fought draw,” said interim manager, Ben Harding. “Much like our previous clash with Chippenham Town, it was very much a game of two halves in terms of our performance.
“I felt that our tempo wasn’t high enough during the opening period, but we changed a few things around and the lads responded well after the break.
“We’re trying to implement a passing game here; it’s about getting a structure in place for the players and it’s something that will take time and not happen overnight.
“There have been spells in our games so far where we have proved that we are more than capable of playing this way. We need to be able to know when the time is right to pass it and when we have to hit it long, but this will come in time.
“We deserved to get something out of the game and I was delighted to see us keep going until the final whistle to grab a stoppage time equaliser.
“It gives us a boost going into what is a busy Bank Holiday weekend. Woking and Hungerford Town will be two very different types of opponent.
“Woking are one of the fancied sides with many expecting them to be up there at the end of the season, but I feel that we have enough here to be able to go there and get something out of the game.
“Then we return to Plainmoor for the visit of Hungerford. It will be a game whereby we will have work extremely hard and ensure that our tempo is right from the very first whistle.
“We’re looking forward to both games and hopefully we’ll be able to add to our points tally.”
Harding emphasised the importance of the role that the supporters have to play.
“The fans have been great so far,” he continued. “The players are certainly putting the effort in and whilst it is very much a transitional period for the club, their backing is really helping to drive us on to get to where we want to be and long may it continue.”
