Interim boss gives his verdict...

FOLLOWING Saturday`s 3-0 defeat away at Wealdstone, we caught up with interim boss, Ben Harding, to get his verdict on the game.

“Well, to be honest with you I felt that we were always in the game until perhaps maybe they scored their second goal,” he admitted. “When you are 2-0 down away from home it`s always an uphill task and so it proved at the weekend.

“I think we caused our downfall because our defending against set-plays just isn`t good enough at the moment and that is and has something that we have been working on all season.

“It`s not just down to individual errors but collectively and we must be better at defending these if we are to give ourselves a chance.

“You also have to give credit to Wealdstone because they are a good side. I think they will be up there or thereabouts come the end of the season as they have a good team.

“They also have a decent budget as well and in Bradley Hudson-Odoi they have a lad who they signed from Hampton & Richmond Borough and who scored two goals against us in last season`s play-offs.

“I do believe in the players that we have at our disposal and I know they are good enough to perform to the levels we need. I also know that football is a results-orientated business and we must improve sooner rather than later.

“We are trying to stay positive; the mood in the camp is generally good, and I really believe that once we can get our first win on the board then we can take-off and begin to make an impact in the division.

“We need to be focussed on getting a result and the sooner that come the better.

“We missed Tyler on Saturday but I am hoping he will be available for Saturday`s trip to an in-form Gloucester City, but we will be without the services of Jordan Copp who will serve a one-match ban following his sending off against Hungerford Town

“The fans have been great so far this season. We all know how difficult it is in playing home games so far away but please keep getting behind the lads and we are all confident that things will take a turn for the better and results begin to improve.”
