Hodges full of praise...

THE WHITE Tigers’ winning run may have come to an end at the weekend but the lads battled well in tricky conditions to secure a point against Hampton & Richmond Borough.
“Both teams gave it a go but we found each other hard to break down,” admitted manager, Lee Hodges. “A draw was probably a fair result in the end.
“Given the conditions, the first goal was always going to be crucial, but we showed great character to get back into it against a team who, like ourselves, were on a long unbeaten run.
“We maybe edged the first half but in fairness there were not too many chances created by either side throughout the game, so we’ll take the point and move on.”
The two teams go head-to-head again this weekend as we travel to Middlesex with a place in the first round proper of the Emirates FA Cup up for grabs.
“I am told that no Cornish team has reached that stage of the competition for almost half-a-century,” added Hodges. “It gives us something to aim for; both teams know a bit about each other now and both teams will also fancy their chances of making progress.
“It will be another closely-fought affair and I have a feeling that it’ll be the team who has Lady Luck on their side on the day who will go through.
“We’ll go there with nothing to lose. It’s a game that we are looking forward to and we’ll work hard in our preparation this week to give ourselves the best possible chance of winning the game.”
Hodges, who claimed the Vanarama National League South Manager of the Month award for September, was full of praise for the fans who turned out in good numbers despite the poor weather at the weekend.
“The supporters really got behind us on Saturday,” he added. “There was a good turn-out and we really appreciated their backing. It certainly helped to drive us on to get back into the game.
“The fans have been excellent this season and along with the players, my coaching staff and the Chairman, they have played their part in me winning the Manager of the Month award. It’s been a real team effort, so this award is for everyone at the club.”
