Truro City will be playing National League South football next season after Shane White's second half penalty handed them victory in Monday's Southern League play-off final at Treyew Road.

It was a thoroughly deserved victory for Steve Tully's players, though it took them 68 minutes to make the breakthrough when White fired home from the penalty spot to the delight of the 1,450 crowd.

And after six agonising minutes of injury time the final whistle was greeted with jubilant scenes as supporters invaded the pitch to congratulate the players.

City dominated the opening 45 minutes with Matt Wright and Isaac Vassell going closest.

But just St Neots had enjoyed their best spell in the second half, referee Adam Penwell pointed to the penalty spot after Vassell was hauled down in the box by Adam Tann.

And in front of a packed clubhouse end White drove the ball past veteran goalkeeper Paul Bastock to spark wild celebrations.

After some nervy closing moments in which City defended magnificently the final whistle was blown and the promotion party could begin.
