THE WHITE Tigers make an instant return to home soil on Saturday as we take on Oxford City (kick-off 3.00pm).
Having slipped to a disappointing home defeat at the hands of Wealdstone last weekend, we will be looking to bounce back straight away and strengthen our position within the leading pack against an Oxford City side that sit 17th in the table but beat us 3-1 on their 3G surface at the start of December.
Manager, Lee Hodges, has given his verdict on our set-back against Wealdstone whilst looking ahead to our latest challenge.
“For 45 minutes it was a job well done last weekend against a good side,” he said. “We looked particularly dangerous at set-pieces and caused our visitors all sorts of problems.
“They could have had no complaints had we gone in at the break two or three goals to the good, but the game went away from us very quickly at the start of the second half.
“We were extremely sloppy in those opening exchanges and it ended up costing us even though we fought hard to get back into it as the second period went on.
“The demands of the previous game possibly played their part on what was a heavy surface, but we have the opportunity to put things right on Saturday and add to our points tally.
“It’ll be another tough challenge, of course. Oxford City beat us at their place earlier in the season and despite finding themselves in the lower half of the table, they have plenty of talent and ability within their ranks.
“Every game becomes the most important at this stage of the season and we are fully focussed on getting our home form right and responding in the correct way.”
