New manager looking forward to the latest challenge at Plainmoor on Saturday...

THE WHITE Tigers play host to Hampton & Richmond Borough at Plainmoor on Saturday with new manager, Leigh Robinson, eager to build upon last weekend’s first win of the season.
It was an apt start to an exciting new era under Robinson as we beat Gloucester City 2-0 and now we prepare for the challenge that Hampton & Richmond Borough will present.
They sit third in the early League table having won three and draw one of their four games on the road so far.
We met each other four times last season and there was plenty of drama in those encounters, including an FA Cup victory for The White Tigers to take us into the first round proper for the first time and a defeat in the play-offs.
“It was a really good start last Saturday at Gloucester and a big relief for the players to get their first win on the board,” admitted Robinson . “Sometimes in football the longer runs like this goes on, the more difficult it can be mentally so it was most welcome, especially when you consider the short amount of time we had to work with the players beforehand.
“To be honest, when I rocked up at training last Thursday for my first session with the players, I thought I would come across a group of players with low morale and low confidence but this was far from the case. The team spirit was good, everyone was keen to prove themselves and this manifested itself on Saturday up at Gloucester which was ideal.
“Undoubtedly having Ben Gerring arrive back with us from Billericay Town on loan was also a big boost going into last weekend. He is an excellent defender at this level, a good lad to have around and certainly calmed everyone down on the pitch last week which ended up with a clean sheet.
“We haven’t even got close to scratching the surface yet with this squad and there is so much more to assess over the coming weeks.
“What I would say is that we definitely need to focus on our consistency because we have three extremely tough fixtures on the way, starting today before moving on to Hereford away in the Emirates FA Cup and then Concord Rangers, but if we can replicate last Saturday’s performance we give ourselves every chance in these games.”
