THE WHITE Tigers get the 2018/19 campaign underway against Billericay Town at Plainmoor on Saturday (kick-off 3.00pm).
There will be a number of new faces on show as we look to build on last season when we made the play-offs.
“We’ve got a younger group this year with a number of lads who are ready for the challenge that they will face at this level,” said manager, Lee Hodges. “I felt that we ran out of legs towards the end of last season and that is why we’ve gone with a bigger squad this time around.
“There will be lads disappointed not to be involved now but I can assure them that they will have a role to play as the season goes on.”
Our opponents secured promotion at the end of last term and are amongst the favourites for another promotion this time around.
“It’s certainly a difficult start against a team who are sure to be amongst the favourites for promotion going into the new campaign,” continued Hodges. “They have plenty of higher level experience in their ranks and will be looking to build on the momentum of last season.
“Anything can happen on the opening day of the season and we will be looking to get off to a winning start and set some high standards along the way.
“I totally understand the frustrations of the fans in regards to the difficulties that they will face travelling to home games. Truronian Coaches will be running a coach to home games, for which we are most grateful, and I urge as many of you as possible to come along and show your support to this young team.
“They need your backing and all support that we get will be much appreciated, as indeed it always is both home and away.”
