After another soggy Saturday, fingers are crossed for Tuesday night's match at Treyew Road

Everybody must now be thoroughly bored of hearing about awful weather, waterlogged surfaces and pitch inspections. But wIth two Truro City home games postponed in the last five days, thoughts now turn to Tuesday's match against Hemel Hempstead.

The good news is that while further rain is forecast for tonight (Saturday) the outlook for the next three days appears to be better. The bad news is that the weather forecast in Cornwall is notoriously changeable.

On that basis, should there be any doubt about the state of the pitch for Tuesday's fixture, the club will organise another early inspection to avoid our opponents embarking on a wasted journey. Truro City and Hemel Hempstead Town are in close contact and the latter are being kept fully informed of the situation.

The postponement of matches is something we all want to avoid.
Many people do not appreciate the amount of work involved in trying to get the pitch ready for matches and the heroic efforts of Truro City groundsman Arthur Parsons and his team cannot be underestimated.

The behind the scenes work performed by Club Secretary Ian Rennie also deserves a mention. When a match is called off, Ian has not only to keep the National League informed, but also to deal with the opposing club who are often disappointed and frustrated. And that's before he gets involved in the complex logistics of trying to find a mutually agreeable date for the rescheduled fixture.

So we're all hoping for a dry spell to allow Steve Tully and his men to get back on the play-off trail on Tuesday. Meanwhile, supporters should keep an eye on the club website and the Twitter feed for updates.
