Charity auction suspended following anonymous complaints...

SUPPORTERS will have noticed that eBay has suspended the FA Cup shirt auction. We have been informed that they did this after receiving complaints about the auction being in some way fraudulent.

We are unlikely to discover who was responsible for this malicious action. But the tragedy is that they have jeopardised a pre-Christmas fund-raising exercise for three worthy charities - Royal British Legion, Ladies Aloud (raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society) and Samaritans.

To reiterate, the club chose the online auction route for two reasons. Firstly because it became clear that not all supporters wanting to bid on the shirts could attend a post-match auction at Treyew Road. As we saw from the Charlton Athletic match and away games throughout the season, there is a large contingent of Truro City exiles living outside Cornwall. We felt that it was only fair to give them the opportunity to participate. Secondly, we felt that this was the best way to maximise the funds raised for the charities.

We are in the process of resolving the situation with eBay and we hope to re-start the auction at the beginning of next week. We hope that supporters will once again get behind the auction to show support for the club and for the charities concerned.
