An update on the Torquay United ground share and progress on Treyew Road & Silver Bow

Torquay United ground share

Truro City Chairman Peter Masters has been discussing the outstanding points of next season’s ground share with Torquay United. Everything has been agreed between the two clubs and the proposal will now be submitted to the National League. A training facility in the Torquay area has also been identified for the team’s use next season.

Supporters will be aware that in the last couple of days Torquay United has announced that they are exploring the possibility of moving to a new ground and redeveloping the existing Launa Windows Stadium. Should this go ahead, it would have no impact on the agreement with Truro City as the time-frame for any move would be 18 months to two years at the earliest.

Silver Bow

With regard to Truro City’s new ground at Silver Bow, work cannot commence until final planning permission on Treyew Road has been granted. This has been delayed by issues around the Section 278 document (the agreement between the developer and the Local Highway Authority covering the work to be carried out on the roads). While this is out of Truro City’s control, the club is hopeful that this can be resolved within the next week or so.

Treyew Road upgrade

Turning to the upgrading of Treyew Road, required by the National League for Truro City to complete the rest of the season at our current home, the necessary additional work has now been carried out. The change in status to Grade B level has been recommended for approval by the National League and the FA.

Club shop and offices

Finally, the club confirms that the premises at the junction of Kenwyn St and Little Castle St in Truro will open as the club shop and administrative offices. This will be Truro City’s home base during the team’s temporary relocation to Torquay next season.
