Bonfire and Fireworks event match report, by Steve Rogers.

What a fantastic, spectacular and successful event!

From six o'clock when the turnstiles opened, around 150 people gathered around the patio area and Eddy's burger van. That number barely moved for quite a while and I was starting to get fidgety. Being the first fireworks event for some time at the ground, and mindful that the well established Tremorvah event was in full swing again, I got some initial jitters whether this gig would take off.

At 7 o'clock though, the numbers swelled hugely and then another big wave of families entered the turnstiles at 7.30pm. Quite incredibly, the attendance was near to 2000. My mind was now settled.

A cold and clear night certainly helped with numbers. Big Bang Fireworks Ltd pulled off a stunning show, befitting a new years eve display off Sydney Harbour. Needless to say, they have already been booked for next year.

The event was well organised, the only hiccup being the 15 minute late start to the display, but everyone was rewarded with some new and previously unseen fireworks.

The bonfire itself was massive. Built by Pep Perryman and his boys, thanks also go to Westfield Transport (Truro) for supplying vast amounts of old wood and pallets.

Thanks also go to Jonathan Keam for his first foray on the mic and keeping everyone in the loop.

Finally, thanks to everyone who turned up and made this event work.

For next year, we have already highlighted some areas of improvement including increased refreshment options, extended bar and sideline amusements. The Club will take some ideas through to the next big event in February when we host the England v Wales U18 game (where we anticipate similar numbers).

Man of the Match? Got to be Pep Perryman for his drive and determination to see this through.
