No-nonsense defender relishing the responsibility...

WHITE Tigers' skipper, Ben Gerring, has expressed his delight at being drawn at Charlton Athletic in the first round of the Emirates FA Cup but also called for the focus to return to the battle for three points as we prepare to take on Wealdstone at the weekend.
"It's an incredible draw," he said with a smile. "I watched it with my little boy and I was starting to lose hope of getting a big draw as we were one of the later teams to come out of the hat.
"But to get a trip to Charlton is brilliant for everyone involved with the club and for Cornwall as a whole.
"It will be a great occasion, and one that we are all looking forward to.
"We earned it with what I would describe as a gutsy performance at Hampton & Richmond on Saturday; it was always going to be a tough one for us and we had to soak up a lot of pressure.
"We worked together to get our reward with everyone playing their part and putting in a shift.
"Our belief is just spiralling at the moment and there's a great spirit around the place.
"Clubs will probably expect us to have our eye on the FA Cup now, but we're well placed in the League and want to strengthen our position with three points on Saturday.
"Whilst the FA Cup is great and we'll maximise our exposure both individually and collectively, our bread-and-butter is the League and we will head to Wealdstone on Saturday determined to get those points to keep us up there."
Gerring has certainly led by example this season with some solid and no-nonsense displays.
"I am just delighted to be playing week in, week out," he added. "I needed a sense of responsibility and the captaincy has brought the best out of me.
"There are leaders throughout this team and I am enjoying being part of it.
"It's a real team effort and that's what makes it so special; we help each other through games and that has been a key factor in getting us to we're at right now."
