Midfield man playing his part...

IT WAS a summer of change for Aaron Lamont as he and his young family made the move to live and work in Cornwall.
The talented midfielder joined The White Tigers from Kingstonian and has certainly hit the ground running with some impressive displays.
“We’ve settled in really quickly,” he said. “It’s a different pace of life down here from what we were used to and we are really enjoying it.
“The lads have all been really welcoming and the club has been good to me, so hopefully I can repay them with my performances on the pitch.
“The winning run that we’re on is fantastic; it’s hard enough at any level to string three or four consecutive wins together let alone six.
“There’s no real secret behind it. We’ve just got a group of hard-working lads together who have bonded really well and are playing as a unit.
“I am delighted to be part of it. We’ve got a strong squad and it keeps you on your toes because you know that you have to be at it every game or else there will be someone ready to step in and take your place.”
Lamont is looking forward to the latest challenge which sees us head to East Thurrock United on Saturday (kick-off 3.00pm).
Our hosts are so far unbeaten and sit level on points with us at the top of the table.
“It’s going to be fun,” he said with a smile. “We’ll approach the game exactly the same as any other. It will be two in-form teams battling it out and it will be good to be involved.
“These are the kind of games that you want to play in.
“I must say that the standard in this League is high this season. The one thing that stands out to me, though, is that every team are of a similar standard and I don’t think that one team will run away with it.
“It means that you have to be on your game regardless of who you come up against because everyone is capable of beating each other.”
Looking ahead to next weekend’s Emirates FA Cup clash with AFC Sudbury, the one-time Hampton & Richmond Borough man is hoping to help create some history for the club.
“I am told that this club hasn’t got a particularly good record in the FA Cup, so it would be nice to change that this season,” he added. “It’s a great competition to be involved in and every year there are clubs who emerge and go far.
“It brings great exposure to the clubs and players involved as well as the interest and extra finances that it stimulates for clubs.
“Hopefully we can make history and take this club as far as we can in the competition. It won’t be easy because we know from the previous round against AFC Portchester that just because we’re at home to lower level opposition, we have to work extremely hard to earn the right to get through.
“AFC Sudbury will come here with nothing to lose and determined to give it everything they’ve got, so we’ll have to be wary of that.”
So, has Lamont set himself any personal targets?
“I just want to establish a regular place in the side and continue making a positive contribution,” he went on. “I want to get a consistent full season under my belt at this level and then take things from there.”
